We had a great evening event arranged by fishing services enterprise TheraFish on Lake Lohjanjärvi.
The late-summer weather was superb on the lake, a calm summer’s evening perfect for this kind of evening activity.
TeraFish’s professional guide, Esa Keino, taught us how to jig for pikeperch – a technique that requires for anglers to watch the line all the time and to be prepared to strike quickly. The majority of us were total novices at lure fishing, but with expert instruction from the guide, the lures were cast a respectable distance, and we began jigging along the river bottom to attract the fish.
Despite Lohjajärvi being a lake renowned for its pikeperch waters, the fish appeared to be a little passive this time.
After bringing in a tiny fish, our CEO, Janne, got a bite that almost snapped the rod, finally pulling in a pikeperch 53 centimetres in length.
At the end of the trip, our host and guide Esa fileted the fish with professional expertise before giving them for us to take home.
(We suspect Janne bribed a local scuba diver to attach the fish to his lure…)
